IKEBANA USING
DRIED MATERIALS

Materials: Calla Lilies, New Zealand Flax (processed),
Japanese Maple leaves
Ikenobo Magazine
November 2023 Feature
arranged by Malleva Abenes studying
Ikebana for 7 years

"Our ikebana class had a workshop to make dried materials to use in the challenge for the November issue of the Ikenobo Magazine. Kurasaki Sensei showed us the process to make the stiff and thick flax leaves lace-like and bendable. In this arrangement, you can see the light, gracefully curled flax leaves bring an airiness, complementing the sharp leaves of the Japanese maple leaves and providing a pillowy base for the pink calla lilies."
